THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan finally gave his assent to convene a special assembly session on December 31. The session is convened for an hour to pass a resolution against centre’s farmers’ laws.
The governor had earlier denied permission to convene the special assembly session stating that the government could not convince him the urgency of convening it. However, in a meeting held with the Speaker, the Governor told him that he had permitted them to convene the session. The Raj Bhavan officially informed the decision to the government today.
It is believed that the government was able to convince the governor the importance of convening the assembly urgently. As a consumer state, the government convinced the Governor how the agricultural laws will affect Kerala. Ministers A K Balan and V S Sunil Kumar went with a Christmas cake and led the Governor to the path of consensus.
