KOZHIKODE: A major fire broke out in Cheruvannur. The fire broke out in a scrap shop near Sarada Mandiram in Kundaithodu. Fire force units are trying to douse the fire. The fire broke out at 5 am Tuesday morning. Initial reports said short circuit is the reason for the fire.

No casualty has been reported. Fire force units from other districts have been called. A major tragedy was averted after the gas cylinders which were in a shop nearby were shifted from there.

Authorities said fire has not spread to other buildings. Mayor Beena Philip said all help requried for rescue operations will be provided.
