THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Child rights panel has taken suo moto case on the suicide incident at Neyyattinkara, where a couple committed suicide amid evicting them from their home. The authorities of the child rights panel have also informed that they will visit the site. State secretary of DYFI, A A Raheem also said that the organisation will take up the security of the couple’s children.
The state government made immediate intervention over the case. The chief minister gave special instructions to the district collector to construct a home for the children. The government will also evaluate whether any lapse has happened from the police’s side. Meanwhile, opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has alleged that police rushed to evict the family from the three scents of the land without waiting for the verdict of the upper court. He also asked via his Facebook post that whether the child rights panel which rushed to the spot of Bineesh Kodiyeri’s home have forgotten the plight of children in Neyyattinkara.
Meanwhile, Anthony Dominic, the chief of state human rights commission has asked Thiruvananthapuram rural SP to investigate the lapses of police officials over the incident. The case is currently being investigated by Rural SP B Ashok.
