THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 5887 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among these, 5180 persons developed the disease through contact including 555 cases without an identified source of infection. 89 persons who came from outside the state also tested positive for the virus. 63 health workers tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 5029 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 64,861 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 24 deaths due to the virus on Tuesday with the toll rising to 3014.

In the last 24 hours, 61,778 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 9.53.

With the addition of 1 new region and the removal of 3, there are 463 hotspots in the state.
