THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 6268 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among these, 5652 persons developed the disease through contact including 460 cases without an identified source of infection. 102 persons who came from outside the state also tested positive for the virus. 54 health workers tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 5707 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 65,394 active cases in the state.
The state confirmed 28 deaths due to the virus on Wednesday with the toll rising to 3042.

The virus was confirmed in 29 persons who came from UK recently. Their samples have been sent to NIV Pune for further tests.
In the last 24 hours, 63.887 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 9.81.
With the addition of 4 new regions and the removal of 7, there are 460 hotspots in the state.
