THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the wake of the spread of COVID-19, strict restrictions have been imposed on New Year celebrations in the state. Gatherings are not allowed in public places. It has been directed that all New Year's Eve celebrations should end at 10 pm tomorrow (December 31). Celebrations should be conducted only in accordance with the Covid protocol.
Strict curbs have been imposed in the Kozhikode district as the number of Covid cases in the district has not decreased significantly. Restrictions have been tightened in the district during the New Year because festive occasions can lead to the spread of the virus as people might gather. The District Collector has issued an order in this regard.
Admission to the beaches from December 31 to January 4 will only be allowed till 6 pm. Those arriving at the beaches must return before 7 pm.
Celebrations in public places are also regulated. The collector said action would be taken if Covid norms are not met.
