THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: While the state government has banned Christmas and New Year celebrations in the state due to COVID-19 spread, it has apparently turned a blind eye to the SFI's golden jubilee celebrations. The COVID protocols were violated during the event that was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
According to sources, students gathered at Putharikandam EK Nayanar memorial park without following social distancing norms. It has been alleged that the rules and regulations imposed on the public by the state government in the context of the COVID spread did not apply to SFI's golden jubilee celebrations. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also did not speak about COVID restrictions at the event.
Mayor Arya Rajendran and former SFI leaders attended the meeting. During the function, the Chief Minister released a book on the history of SFI.
