THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the wake of allegations leveled against the Speaker in connection with the dollar smuggling case, BJP state president K Surendran has demanded the resignation of P Sreeramakrishnan. "The entire state was shocked when it heard the recent news. The speaker, who is obliged to maintain the sanctity of his position, must resign if he has done such a thing that brought disgrace to Kerala," Surendran said.

"How was the Speaker able to contact the accused in the gold smuggling case? What was in the bag? What is the message given to the accused? Many questions need to be answered. The speaker has a moral obligation to answer all these questions. The speaker should resign from his post if he has any ethics," he added.
