THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Dissent and confusion have been marred in NCP on leaving LDF over the Pala seat issue. Minister A K Saseendran has said that no talks were held with the agenda to change front. “Nobody has said that NCP will lose Pala assembly seat and the current talks are pointless. If it joins with UDF, it is unsure whether the party can win from existing seats. Any measure which will reduce the sheen of LDF, will not be taken by the party,” he said.

Meanwhile, the state committee of CPM is being held here on Saturday. Mani C Kappan has decided to leave LDF and join UDF if the Pala seat is given to Jose K Mani. Whereas A K Saseendran who don’t have any attachment with Pala seat has raised strong opposition against the move to leave LDF. His concern is that the party may not receive four seats from UDF that it had while in LDF and Saseendran’s Ellathoor constituency may also not be given to NCP by the right front.

Congress leaders were engaged in efforts to bring one party from LDF to the UDF camp, since Jose K Mani’s exit from the right front. Active talks in this regard were also conducted under the leadership of senior Congress leader Ommen Chandy. Party state president Peethambaran Master and Mani C Kappan have conducted talks on this issue on December 25. Whereas the district units of the party have also raised opposition against the decision to leave LDF as they think only Mani C Kappan will be benefited from the move. Meanwhile Peethambaran Master has said that no talks have been held on leaving LDF.
