KOCHI: State government has given nod for vigilance probe against former district collector M G Rajamanickam over the irregularities in the land acquisition of Seemati for the Kochi Metro Project. The move for the probe was taken on the complaint of Gireesh Babu, a native of Kalamassery.

The complaint alleges that he made irregularities in the land acquisition in order to benefit Shematti. It also stated that the contract was made on a higher amount. The complainant also alleged that making a special contract for Sheemati itself is an instance of corruption. It is alleged that when other places were given 52 lakh Sheemati was given 80 lakh as compensation for the land.
