KALLAMBALAM: After murdering his elder son, a man jumped into a pond with his younger son and committed suicide. Bodies of father and the younger son were recovered from the pond near Navaikkulam Sree Sankaranarayana Swamy temple. The incident took place at Nainamkonam near Navaikkulam. The deceased have been identified as autorickshaw driver Safeer (34), his elder son Altaf (11) and younger son Anshad (9).

Both Altaf and Anshad were students of Navaikkulam Govt Higher Secondary School. The throat of Altaf was slit and his hands and legs were tied before being murdered. The initial conclusion of the police was that Safeer's mental problem led to murder and suicide. After completing the procedures, the bodies were shifted to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital mortuary.
