ALAPPUZHA: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala on Sunday denied reports which claimed that he won't be contesting from Haripad constituency in the forthcoming assembly election.

"Some people are spreading rumors that I won't be contesting from Haripad this time. Haripad has always sheltered me and people there have helped me. In Chennithala panchayath, the UDF supporting the LDF was a political decision," Chennithala said.

Earlier, it was reported that Chennithala would be contesting from Aruvikkara instead of Harippad this time. The UDF had lost the local body elections in Chennithala's ward.
