THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Jagathy Sreekumar, Malayalam cinema's king of comedy, will celebrate his 70th birthday on Tuesday. The veteran actor will spend his birthday with family at his house in Peyad. The family has decided to avoid huge celebrations due to the COVID pandemic. Meanwhile, the fans of the actor are excited to hear that Jagathy is set to return to cinema later this year. The actor has been inactive in cinema ever since he met with a deadly accident at Thenhipalam in 2012.

Jagathy will return to the silver screen through a film directed by his son Rajkumar under the banner of Jagathy Sreekumar Entertainments. Jagathy's character will be presented in such a way that will suit his health. The actor has also received other film offers. In the last few years, he was seen in some commercials that were made under the banner of Jagathy Sreekumar Entertainments. Last year, the video of Jagathy eating 'onasadya' had gone viral on social media.

Jagathy Sreekumar started his career as a child artist in 1956 with the film 'Achchanum Makanum' written and directed by his father Jagathy NK Achary. The actor, who has acted in more than 1000 films, is still making the audience laugh out loud through his evergreen characters.
