NEYYATTINKARA: The crime branch team visited the house of Rajan and Ambili, who died of burns while being evacuated by the police, at Lakshamveedu colony in Pongil in Neyyattinkara. Rahul told officials that the fire started when the police slammed the lighter in Rajan's hand after neighbor Vasantha said that she would face anything as it happens.
Rahul said: On the morning of the incident, went to work at a workshop in Kodangavilai. In returned home after the father called and saw police officials at the house for eviction procedures. Their father told him to stay for half an hour as he would get a stay from the high court, but the police refused. The police grabbed father's shirt and kicked him out. His father also told him to record the events on his mobile phone. Meanwhile, his father was pouring petrol on his body.
Rahul said the police did not take the victims to the hospital. Crime Branch SP M Shanavas is in charge of investigating the case. The team led by Crime Branch CI Abhilash arrived at 10.30 am and returned by 1.30 pm.
