THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a meeting with AICC General Secretary Tariq Anwar, the representatives of feeder organisations of the Congress complained that the party' setback in the local body elections was due to flaws in the nomination process. The presidents and vice-presidents of the thirty-two organizations who came to the discussion yesterday raised many such complaints.

Everyone argued that the criteria for deciding the candidates for the Assembly elections should be the possibility of victory and public acceptance. Declarations that appeal to young people should be included in the manifesto. The Youth Congress and KSU leaders said that all the Youth Congress candidates had performed well in the local body elections. The leadership must be prepared for such bold experiments in the Assembly elections as well. Social media interventions should be strengthened. She also pointed out that the public statements of the leaders are confusing.

Mahila Congress president Latika Subhash demanded that 20 per cent of the 140 constituencies be set aside for women active in the party, Mahila Congress and other feeder organizations. The Mahila Congress did not get the promised participation in the local body elections. Corruption-free image, chances of victory and public acceptance should be considered in candidate selection. No one should be allowed to comment in front of the media except leaders or officials. The party should accept back the rebels who won and lost in the local elections.
