THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The report of the health department mentioned that the transmission of COVID-19 has mounted in Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam and Wayanad districts. The report said of the 906 dead, mostly were below the age of 60.
The situation is annoying in Wayanad and Pathanamthitta districts where the transmission of the virus was relatively low earlier. The highest test positivity rate was higher in Wayanad last week. The positivity rate in Wayanad was 12.3 %, 11.6% in Pathanamthitta and 10.6% in Ernakulam. The positivity rate increased by 2 % in Pathanamthitta.
The report has also included the count on age-based number of deaths due to the virus. Six children aged 10, nine aged between 11-20, 35 aged between 21-30 years, 77 aged between 31-40 years, 218 aged between 40-50 years and 561 aged between 51-60 years died of the disease. A total of 966 people between 61-70 years have died of the infection.
A total of 2,210 people above the age of 60 have surrendered to the virus. 95 % of them had other ailments. Meantime, the current figures show a lapse in reverse quarantine.
The health department has directed to exclude containment zones from pulse polio distribution programme on January 17. The plan is to distribute the drug in the region once restrictions end. The drug will be distributed to children in homes of those in quarantine after the end of the isolation period.
