KOCHI: State government has told the high court that Ebrahimkunju should not be given bail. On Tuesday, Ebrahimkunju has sought court’s permission to contest in the elections to Muslim Education Society. Whereas the government informed the court that the polls and the reasons explained in his plea against the jail term are totally different. The high court also criticised Ebrahimkunju saying that he can contest the polls even from jail.

The court also added that if he can file nomination then he should also be ready to go to jail. “Bail was given considering your health condition. But now you are thinking to contest in polls. It could be done even after going to jail,” the court criticised the minister.

Meanwhile, Ebrahimkunju told the court that he doesn’t expect a comeback alive if he goes to jail. The former PWD minister also appealed the court to consider the report of health experts and to give him adequate time to respond to the government’s report. The case will be again taken up on Friday.
