KANNUR: The vigilance is interrogating K M Shaji MLA in plus two bribery case. He is being questioned by Kannur vigilance DySP Babu Peringoth. Shaji reached the vigilance office at 3 pm today.
The case is based on a complaint of receiving a bribe of Rs 25 lakh to allot plus two course in Azhikode High School during the tenure of previous UDF Government. The statements of 17 people have been registered by now. Shaji was summoned last.
When asked whether he would be arrested, Shaji said the interrogation is only a procedure and is not afraid of the arrest.
Vigilance and anti-corruption bureau registered a case against Shaji on the complaint of receiving a bribe of Rs 25 lakh for sanctioning higher secondary course in Azhikode High School. The case involves various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act. The vigilance said Azhikode school management had stated that he accepted Rs 25 lakh. The management should also disclose the source of that Rs 25 lakh but they claimed that the money was not paid.
