THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Public works minister G Sudhakaran has alleged that a criminal gang was behind the unauthorized opening of the Vyttila flyover. According to the minister, the same gang that was responsible for corruption in Palarivattom had operated in Vyttila as well. While claiming that a professional criminal mafia was operating in Ernakulam, the minister demanded the police to probe into the conspiracy.

"It is not the onlookers, but the engineers who built the bridge who decide when the bridge should be opened. Those who are taking decisions otherwise are committing a serious offense. It doesn't matter who they are or how much support they have. It is a criminal offense," the minister said.
