THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 5142 COVID-19 cases on Friday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among these, 4563 persons developed the disease through contact including 424 cases without an identified source of infection. 88 persons who came from outside the state also tested positive for the virus. 67 health workers tested positive for the virus on Friday. 3 persons, who recently returned from the UK, tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 5325 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 64,236 active cases in the state.
The state confirmed 23 deaths due to the virus on Friday with the toll rising to 3257.

In the last 24 hours, 59,569 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 8.63.
