THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 5528 COVID-19 cases on Saturday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among these, 4988 persons developed the disease through contact including 435 cases without an identified source of infection. 60 persons who came from outside the state also tested positive for the virus. 45 health workers tested positive for the virus on Saturday.

Meanwhile, 5424 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 64,318 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 22 deaths due to the virus on Saturday with the toll rising to 3279.

In the last 24 hours, 61,239 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 9.03.

With the addition of 3 new regions and the removal of 5, there are 438 hotspots in the state.
