THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 4545 COVID-19 cases on Sunday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among these, 4003 persons developed the disease through contact including 422 cases without an identified source of infection. 78 persons who came from outside the state also tested positive for the virus. 42 health workers tested positive for the virus on Sunday. 3 persons, who recently returned from the UK, tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 4659 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 64,179 active cases in the state.
The state confirmed 23 deaths due to the virus on Sunday with the toll rising to 3302.

In the last 24 hours, 45,695 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 9.95.
With the addition of 3 new regions and the removal of 1, there are 441 hotspots in the state.
