THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central team expressed their satisfaction with the Covid defence activities and bird flu control in the state. During the discussion with the Health Minister, the team clarified that Kerala is doing an excellent job. The report on the evaluation of defense activities at the field-official level will be submitted to the Central Government. The team assured that bird flu was under control and that the NCD's regional center could be set up in the state for further purposes.
The central team consisted of Covid National Nodal Officer Dr Minhaj Alam and National Central for Disease Control Director Dr SK Singh. The team visited Kottayam and Alappuzha affected by bird flu.
Minister Shailaja said that the recommendations of the central team will be implemented. The state also demanded that a lab be set up in Kerala to test bird flu samples.
The minister said that a discussion was conducted on the availability of the vaccine with the central team. Department of Health Principal Secretary Dr Rajan N Khobragade and NHM State Mission Director Dr. Ratan Khelkar also participated in the discussion.
