THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has directed the local bodies not to back down from registering the child's name in the birth certificate due to a dispute between the parents. The child's name must be registered as per the application submitted by the person under whose care the child is growing up. For this, the local self-government secretary and the directors of Urban Affairs and Panchayat Affairs should issue an order. A division bench comprising commission members K Naseer and B Babitha ordered that all the local bodies should follow the instructions.
