KOZHIKODE: A raid is being conducted at the Karipur Airport. The raid is jointly conducted by the CBI and the DRI. The raid started early Tuesday morning by a ten-member team. An amount of Rs three lakh was seized from the customs officer. The money was seized from rooms and drawers of the airport.

Gold smuggling is rampant in Karipur. Several people were also arrested. Reports that came in said the raid is being carried out to check whether there is any lapse in the customs checking system.

The team also examined the passengers who came out after customs checking. It has been hinted that gold and cash were seized from them. It is not clear whether the raid was based on secret information.
