NEW DELHI: Rajya Sabha chairman accepted Jose K Mani’s resignation from the Rajya Sabha. He will contest the coming assembly polls from Pala. Prior to this, the resignation letter was submitted. The seat vacated following Jose's resignation will go to Kerala Congress itself.

The Congress had earlier criticized him for not resigning the Rajya Sabha seat he got while in the UDF and was holding the post after joining the LDF. However, the decision to resign got delayed following a case with the Joseph faction. Jose K Mani submitted his resignation to Rajya Sabha chairman Vice President Venkaiah Naidu on January 9 after finally getting legal advice to resign.

Mani C Kappan is the legislator from Pala. Kappan and the NCP had protested against giving the Pala seat to Jose. NCP state president T P Peethambaran Master had asserted that they would not part with the Pala seat.
