THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala said the arrogance that they have a chief minister to protect and power are urging the CPM to commit all crimes. He was speaking to the media after leaving the house for denying permission to move an adjournment motion against CPM's fatal protests at Mayyil in Kannur. The aim of the CPM is to create anxiety and panic among the people, he said. He also criticised the act of the speaker denying permission.

‘The speaker is just a puppet of the government. The Speaker will not approve if a notice is issued against the CPM. His act in the assembly upholds the resolution against him. He denied permission for the motion saying it was a local issue,’ said Chennithala.

The opposition had given a notice for an adjournment motion on the deadly slogans. However, the Speaker denied permission saying the issue was a local one and is not a matter to be discussed in the assembly. Following this, the opposition trooped to the well of the house and protested in front of the Speaker’s dais.

The CPM activists shouted slogans during a reception accorded to the accused of assaulting UDF booth agents on the day of the local body polls at Mayyil in Cherupazhassi. They shouted slogans, "We will kill those who need to be killed and will beat those need to be beaten.’
