KASARGOD: A middle-aged man, who allegedly misbehaved with a woman at a private hospital, died after he was chased by a group of locals. The deceased has been identified as Chemmanad native Rafeeq (49). The incident took place at a private hospital in Kasargod city.

According to sources, Rafeeq had exposed himself indecently before a woman who came to the hospital with her son. Following this, he was beaten by the woman. While he attempted to escape from the area, a group of locals chased him and he went on to collapse near the Kasargod bus stand. Though he was rushed to the hospital, he was soon pronounced dead. However, police have not confirmed that Rafeeq's death was caused by a mob attack.

The body, which is currently kept at Kasargod General Hospital, will be soon shifted to the Pariyaram Medical College for post mortem. Police have recorded the statement of the woman who was insulted by Rafeeq.
