THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has sanctioned the salary and benefits due to retired DGP Jacob Thomas IPS. He will get an amount of Rs 40,88,000. Jacob Thomas, who was the managing director of Metal Industries Limited, retired from service seven months ago.

The government’s explanation is that his salary and benefits could not be paid due to the poor financial condition of the company. He was suspended for more than a year and a half while serving as the director of vigilance.

Jacob Thomas was later appointed as managing director of Metal Industries Limited on his return to service by the order of the Administrative Tribunal. The post of the managing director of Metal Industries was equal to that of vigilance chief.
