THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The procession of LDF as part of the pre-poll campaign ahead of the assembly polls will be held on February 13th and 14th. The processions will be lead by acting CPM general secretary A Vijayaraghavan and CPI leader Binoy Vishwam. LDF meet has initially decided to entrust the responsibility of leading the processions to CPM and CPI secretaries but, CPI chief Kanam Rajendran withdrew from the programme citing health complications. Following this, CPI chose Binoy Vishwam as its representative to lead the procession.
The northern regional procession will commence from Kasargod on February 13th and the southern regional procession will start from Ernakulam on February 14th. Both will end on February 16th on Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram. Seat distribution among constituent parties was not on agenda on the LDF meet held on Wednesday. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that it will be discussed later. Mani C Kapan who was dissatisfied with LDF leadership over Pala seat had not attended the meet.
The meet has decided to start discussions with constituent parties. As part of this, following the LDF meeting, secretaries of CPM and CPI has initiated talks with Jose K Mani faction of Kerala Congress. A Vijayaragahvan, Kanam Rajendran and Jose K Mani held talks.
LDF convener A Vijayaraghavan told presspersons after the meeting that the political objective of Oommen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala going to Panakkad is clear and it is for expanding the ties with religious fundamentalists. “Even the Congress leadership has succumbed before such communal tactics. The state requires a clear development policy and protection of the values nourished by the renaissance,” Vijayaraghavan said.
The CPM leader has added that Congress leadership considers creating workers who can vote for the lotus symbol as a great achievement. “They need a continuation of local body polls. UDF also wishes to further deepen the relations with Muslim fundamentalist groups. UDF is currently being lead by the league,” he said.
“The high levels of inflation in the country is quite frightening. The prices of petrol and diesel are increasing without any reason. The left front and its government in Kerala functions with a different approach against BJP’s communal tactics. UDF is taking stands without considering the people-centric issues. UDF is suffering from political poverty,” CPM secretary added.
