THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 5659 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among these, 5146 persons developed the disease through contact including 393 cases without an identified source of infection. 77 persons who came from outside the state tested positive for the virus. 43 health workers contracted the disease on Tuesday.
No UK returnee developed the disease in the last 24 hours. So far, 71 UK returnees have tested positive for the virus. Of that, 45 persons tested negative.
5006 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 71,607 active cases in the state.
The state confirmed 20 deaths due to the virus on Tuesday with the toll rising to 3663.
