ALAPPUZHA: Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari along with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the Alappuzha bypass much waited by Kerala. Vehicles can now go through Alappuzha bypass without any traffic jams. The four-and-a-half-decades long wait came to an end when the bypass opened for public transport.
Public Works Minister G Sudhakaran presided over the function. Governor Arif Mohammad Khan also attended the function. The construction of the bypass which began four and a half decades ago got stuck due to many reasons. The construction of the bypass was completed due to the special interest taken by Minister Sudhakaran after the LDF government came to power.
Union Minister of States V K Singh and V Muraleedharan, Ministers Thomas Isaac and P Thilothaman, MPs A M Arif and Mayor Soumya Raj were present on the occasion.
