THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 5771 COVID-19 cases on Thursday, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said. Among these, 5228 persons developed the disease through contact including 410 cases without an identified source of infection. 88 persons who came from outside the state tested positive for the virus. 45 health workers contracted the disease on Thursday.

Three UK returnees developed the disease in the last 24 hours. So far, 74 UK returnees have tested positive for the virus.

5594 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 72,392 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 19 deaths due to the virus on Thursday with the toll rising to 3682.

In the last 24 hours,58,472 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 9.87.

With the addition of 6 new regions and the removal of 8, there are 404 hotspots in the state.
