ALAPPUZHA: An Alappuzha native has been approached by the United Nations to teach Microsoft Excel programs for their staff. Ajay Anand (35), son of ND Dayanandan and Sathyabhama of Anand Bhavan in Alappuzha's Kalarcode, quit his engineering job to start a Youtube channel that teaches Microsoft Excel in English as well as Malayalam. He earns a handsome amount of Rs 75,000 on average a month from this.

Microsoft has honored him with the Most Valuable Profession (MVP) Award. Ajay has become one of the top ten most trusted people in Microsoft Excel. When he quit his civil engineering job in Hyderabad and returned home and started a YouTube channel, he never dreamed of becoming an international professional.

The head of the UN Disaster Management Authority Murali Thummarukudi's Facebook post changed his fate. It was a workshop ad to teach Excel to their finance team. Ajay Anand became the chosen one for this. The workshop was in Geneva in June 2019.

An application to convert payslip for 10,000 employees to PDF file in one click, and another application to send a separate email for employees was also created. He received the award from Microsoft in April 2020.

English and Malayalam channels

Ajay has English and Malayalam channels to teach Excel. There is no other YouTube channel that teaches Excel in Malayalam which has 11,000 subscribers. Many institutions are also calling for classes. He teaches Excel lessons in a way that is easy for children to understand which is his secret to success. His channel is named 'XL n CAD Malayalam'.

Fourth in India

Ajay Anand is the first Malayalee to win the Microsoft Most Valuable Profession Award. During the last 25 years, four people from India have won this award. The award recognizes contributions made to Excel Products for one year.
