THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the midst of rumours on shifting the constituency, V S Shivakumar MLA has cleared his stand. Shivakumar has responded that if he contests in the polls, it would be only from Thiruvananthapuram constituency and he has informed his stand to the party. Shivakumar’s revelation comes in the wake of rumours that Oommen Chandy might contest from Nemom or Thiruvananthapuram.
The senior Congress leader has also added that he has an emotional connect with Thiruvananthapuram and it is where his political career is centred on. “Will not shift from Thiruvananthapuram under any circumstance. Other things are decided by the party. I have implemented numerous development activities in the constituency and I know the people for so long,” he said.
V S Shivakumar has won from Thiruvananthapuram consecutively twice. If he strongly bats for capital city, Congress might find it difficult to find candidates for Vattiyoorkavu and Nemom. As BJP and CPM are strong contenders in Nemom, party workers are still demanding for Oommen Chandy’s candidature in Thiruvananthapuram.
