THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 5266 COVID-19 cases on Sunday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among these, 4746 persons developed the disease through contact including 407 cases without an identified source of infection. 71 persons who came from outside the state tested positive for the virus. 42 health workers contracted the disease on Sunday.
One UK returnee developed the disease in the last 24 hours. So far, 77 UK returnees have tested positive for the virus.
5730 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 70,983 active cases in the state.
The state confirmed 21 deaths due to the virus on Sunday with the toll rising to 3743.
