THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Duty surrender will be introduced in KSRTC on leave surrender model. If those who do extra duty on a daily basis do not take off instead, they will be paid extra along with the salary as per the duty time.
When an employee works 12 hours a day, including leisure time, he is doing half the duty in excess (four hours). When half duty is surrendered, half the amount of a duty will be received. If the pay for half the duty is Rs.250, 25 days of duty is surrendered in a month, he will get an additional Rs.6250.
As part of the reforms, KSRTC is planning to run regular services during peak hours. The duty surrender system is to ensure the availability of employees.
Attractive incentives for employees are also under consideration as income increases.
There will also be changes to long-distance and short-distance services. The draft list for relocation has been published in the depots. Surrender of duty will be enforced until all depots are adequately staffed.
