KOCHI: The court will consider today the bail plea of former principal secretary to the chief minister M Sivasankar in the dollar smuggling case. The plea is considered by the economic offences additional CJM court.

Sivasankar claimed that he is not involved in the case and that the investigating team had not been able to produce any evidence against him. His plea stated that only the statements of the accused are against him.

However, the probe team said they have strong evidence against Sivasankar. The customs alleged that Sivasankar is involved in the smuggling of Rs 1.5 crore dollars. His arrest in the case was registered last week.

Sivasankar was granted bail in the gold smuggling case registered by the customs and money laundering case of the enforcement directorate. He will be released from jail if he gets bail in the dollar smuggling case.
