NEW DELHI: The budget presentation of Central Government's 2021-22 has begun amid opposition uproars. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the budget was prepared during the crisis of Covid. She presented the budget counting the welfare schemes of the Central Government during the lockdown period.
She lauded the measures taken in the country during lockdown. Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Yojana helped the poor. Atmanirbhar Bharat helped to recover from the crisis. This is the first budget of this decade and the first digital budget in the country. He said the budget was for uplifting the economy.
The distribution of COVID vaccine is an achievement of the country. Three Atmanirbhar packages were announced at a cost of 13 per cent of GDP. The decline in Covid cases reduced the momentum of the crisis. The fight against Covid will continue, she said.
