THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Amid speculations about his candidature, TV actor Vivek Gopan has said that he is ready to contest the assembly elections if the BJP wants him to. He made the comments after holding talks with BJP leaders, including party state president K Surendran. The actor said that he is a BJP supporter and became a part of the party as he got attracted to the work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"I am a BJP supporter. Will definitely compete if given the chance to compete. Coming from film to politics, I feel that I can do a lot of things once if I win the election. Young people need to come forward for national service", Vivek Gopan told a Malayalam news outlet.
It is reported that the BJP has decided to give Vivek membership in the party as part of K Surendran's 'Kerala Vijayayathra'. The news that the actor has joined the BJP was circulating yesterday after images of Vivek posing with BJP leaders were seen on social media.
Vivek had shared a video on social media in which he asked people to vote for BJP in the local body elections. Vivek Gopan rose to fame through the serial 'Parasparam'. He also played several roles in movies. So far, he has acted in 15 films. Vivek's first film was the 2011 movie 'Oru Marubhoomi Kadha'. He has also acted in Mammootty's films 'Pullikkaran Stara' and 'Oru Kuttanadan Blog'.
