THRISSUR: The mouthpiece of Catholic church’s Thrisur archdiocese has rendered strong warning to left and right fronts in the state. Hinting at the Congress-Welfare party ties, the mouthpiece says forging ties with terrorist organisations to grab political power is unacceptable. Such ties will weaken the secular political alliances in the state. “They are ignoring Christain groups and we will respond against it,” the mouthpiece said.

“Nobody needs to approach Christian factions as traditional vote banks. A conducive stand will be only taken on those who will consider us,” the mouthpiece said.

On Monday, CPM general secretary A Vijayaraghavan was harshly criticised by Coorilose Geevarghese, the diocesan bishop of Jacobite faction. “Muslim League is not a communal party, it has always upheld a secular stand. Taking refuge in communal tendencies for electoral gains is not appropriate for progressive organisations,” he said this via his Facebook post.

CPM general secretary, A Vijayaraghavan in an editorial article published in Deshabhimani has written that League has initiated for communal polarisation on EWS issue. He has also added that fostering minority appeasement to counter Hindu communalism will eventually help in reigniting Hindu communal spirit. The criticism of Jacobite faction’s bishop comes in the wake of this.
