ADOOR: A man has been taken into custody for causing grievous burns to his seven-year-old son at Adoor in Pathanamthitta. He brutally assaulted the boy in the name of studies. He inflicted burns on the boy’s stomach and legs. The Adoor police has taken the accused identified as Sreekumar into custody.

Sreekumar went out asking his son to study. When he returned he asked him whether he studied. When he said ‘no’ he soon took a spatula and inflicted burns on his body. The incident happened on January 30.

The incident came to light after the boy’s mother told about it. The locals with the help of a panchayat member informed the police and child welfare centre. Police said the man was in an inebriated condition at the time of the incident.
