neelakantan

Neelakantan Nair (9), a fourth-grader, broke the Arabian Book of World Records by doing back walkover 422 times in 30 minutes. Only a few intervals of a maximum of 10 seconds were taken. Neelakantan's achievement in the Backward Walk Over category was due to the experience he gained with his training in martial art form 'Kalari' since the age of six.

Neelakantan's Guru is Harikrishnan, the owner of Ekaveera Kalaripayattu Academy, who holds the Guinness Book of World Records and the Limca Book for swinging two urumis simultaneously 230 times in 37 seconds. Neelakantan says that the desire to follow the path of the Guru motivated him to get the record. After three years of training, he has completed Meythari and Kolthari and is now training in Angathari. He is also learning other forms of the martial art.

Neelakantan's next goal is to get a place in the Guinness Book of World Records, the Limca Book and the Indian Book of World Records. Guinness Book of World Records officials have expressed concern if it's healthy for a child under the age of 12 to do such difficult form of the martial art.
