KOZHIKODE: National General Secretary of the Muslim Youth League CK Subair said in a press conference that the fund raised to help the families of the victims of the Kathua and Unnao torture cases were not swindled and all the figures are transparent.
A person who contested as LDF candidate in the local body elections made the allegations after claiming to be a member of the National Committee of the Youth League. The collection of funds to the tune of Rs 1 crore is a blatant lie. An amount of Rs 39,33,697 was received in the account. Anyone can check it at the Kozhikode branch of Punjab National Bank. It is also untrue that Youth League State General Secretary PK Firoz paid Rs 15 lakh to pay off his 'Yuvajana Yathra' debt.
Rs 5 lakh each were given to the Kathua victim's father, Unnao victim's mother and Asansor Imam. Rs 9.35 lakh was paid to the lawyers of the Kathua case and Rs. 25,000 to Mohammad Unnao. Rs 14,73,697 is left in the fund. The funds were raised by the National Committee. Minister KT Jaleel is behind the allegations against Feroz, who is unrelated to this.
"Minister Jaleel said the incident would be investigated. Any inquiries are welcome. Will Jaleel apologize if the allegations are proved wrong?", Subair asked.
Vice President Panakkad Mueen Ali Shihab Thangal said that the matter was mentioned earlier due to confusion in the figures and later it was resolved with the explanation of those including the General Secretary.
