THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday mocked the UDF for taking up the Sabarimala issue ahead of the upcoming assembly election. While claiming that there is no problem in Sabarimala at the present, the CM said that the UDF seems to believe that they can get a good number of votes by bringing forth the Sabarimala issue as the main campaign topic.
The Chief Minister asked the media whether there were any issues related to Sabarimala now and whether any issues related to Sabarimala had to be reported after the Supreme Court review began.
He said that the UDF's decision to take up the Sabarimala issue as the campaign topic comes at a time when society was not paying any attention to the matter. "At the present, the government cannot do anything about it. The government will have a role to play only when the court announces its verdict. A stand will be taken If there are any issues with the verdict that affect us in general," the CM added.
He added the UDF is using the Sabarimala issue as a weapon ahead of the elections and that the government is not bothered about it.
