IDUKKI: Power generation has been suspended at the Moolamattom powerhouse following an explosion. According to KSEB officials, the explosion occurred in the auxiliary system of the fourth generator. The explosion occurred while the generator was running. The board clarified that there were no casualties in the accident and there is no cause for concern at present. Indications are that the safety shield of the transformer exploded in the blast. A tragedy was averted because the staff fled after seeing a bright light.
KSEB is trying to alleviate the power shortage by imposing minor load shedding during peak power consumption time. KSEB has started efforts to supply more power from outside the state to deal with emergencies.
