THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have registered case against section officer in Kerala university in connection with marks scam case. The case is registered against section officer Vinod on the crimes of cheating, betrayal and on sections of IT act. The case is registered in cantonment police station on the complaint of the university registrar.
The marks of BSc computer science uploaded on the university website has found to be changed. The change was initially spotted in one student and in subsequent enquiry, it was found that marks of more than 70 students were changed in a similar manner and Vinod was found to have steered the scam.
A detailed probe led by the controller of the exam is ongoing to find out the depth of the scam and marks of how many children were changed. Sources in the university say that with the digitisation of exam system in the university, section officers were given the power to change the marks, which have proved to be crucial in the current marks scam. In the wake of the incident, the university authorities are gearing up to put a new software system with enhanced security features to prevent occurrences of such incidents in the future.
