THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 5942 COVID-19 cases on Saturday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among these, 5420 persons developed the disease through contact including 394 cases without an identified source of infection. 98 persons who came from outside the state tested positive for the virus. 30 health workers contracted the disease on Saturday.

6178 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 67,543 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 16 deaths due to the virus on Saturday with the toll rising to 3848.

In the last 24 hours, 82,804 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 7.18.

With the addition of 13 new regions and the removal of 4, there are 434 hotspots in the state.
