KANNUR: CPM gearing up to heighten campaigning in the cyber area with high-level planning. The cyber wing which will function under the guidance and leadership of the party will take the government’s achievements among the people and will counter the allegations of opposition.

Even after facing mounting resistance, BJP’s cyber wing has played a crucial role in ensuring the party’s victory in 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Even though pro-CPM cyber workers are active in social media, the party doesn’t have any official control over them. The new wing is created as the informal groups made by pro-CPM persons in social media doesn’t take into account the party’s official stand on various issues. The decision to appoint the cyber team also comes on the realisation that the personal attack made on party’s adversaries without considering the leadership’s official stand could reduce the party’s poll prospects.

The CPM leadership has decided to choose members for the official cyber team from SFI, DYFI, NGO union and KSTA. Among them, the registration of those who have prior experience in the field of writing, designing and video editing has started yesterday. About 1,000 workers from different parts of the state have registered for this.

State-level panel for further control

The state committee has also appointed a special panel to control and oversee the cyber wing. CPM hopes that the votes of the social media-savvy new generation of voters could be garnered through the active involvement of the cyber wing with trolls on opposition, attractive posts and videos of the party’s important leaders.
