THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The customs opened and examined the bags of former UAE consular general Jamal Al Sabi. It was examined at the airport with the permission of the central government. The customs examined the consular general's house hold things brought to the airport to carry it to UAE.

The customs were of the stand that the things could not be taken to UAE without checking. The customs informed this to the central government. It was after that the baggage was examined with the permission of the centre. The consul general who fled to UAE after the gold smuggling via diplomatic baggage was seized did not return to the consulate.
